Sea fishing: Sector operators deliver their recommendations

According to an information note from the Chamber, these suggestions, presented during the consultation meeting attended by the director of maritime fisheries Bouchta Aichane and the president of the Chamber Youssef Benjelloun, as well as professionals, take part on training, reinforcement of infrastructure and security and preservation of the environment.

In the area of training, the Chamber suggests restructuring the maritime training institutes and centers, so as to improve understanding of the laws governing the sector and to focus on the preservation of the maritime environment, while revising the programs of training by integrating new specialties relating to maritime fishing and aquaculture professions.

Regarding infrastructure, the Chamber calls for planning the construction of more unloading points and fishing villages to improve the working conditions of seafarers on the one hand, and strengthen the control, enhancement and preservation of product quality on the other hand. It is also a question of continuing the construction of wholesale markets in the various cities of the Kingdom, to promote the consumption of good quality fish.

As for the maritime safety aspect, the Chamber encourages thinking about the creation of a national maritime safety agency in order to limit the accidents that may occur for maritime fishing professionals.
